Global News has declared a Conservative government with the NDP as official opposition.
Barry Kay, Global News’ election results specialist, made the call moments ago based on the results from much of eastern Canada.
The Liberals are collapsing in Ontario.
They won every seat in the province in the 1993 election under Jean Chretien.
But they're a distant third, leading in just 11 ridings. The Conservatives are ahead in 62 races while the New Democrats are leading in 23.
Conservative Party candidate Tony Clement has been elected in Parry Sound-Muskoka.
As usual no surprises in Alberta in the federal election.
The Tories are leading in 17 ridings, none of the other parties are on the board. The New Democrats had just one seat in Edmonton in the last Parliament. The Tories have tradtionally done very well in Alberta.

Helena Guergis defeated
Independent candidate and former Conservative cabinet minister Helena Guergis, the incumbent in Simcoe-Grey, has lost to Conservative Kellie Leitch.
New Democratic Party Jeanne-Le Ber--Tyrone Benskin, defeated Thierry St-Cyr (BQ).
Bloc quebecois
Glum faces at Bloc headquarters. Gilles Duceppe is trailing in his riding to an unknown NDP candidate. He won by 15,000 votes last federal election.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been re-elected in his Calgary riding.
It was no contest as Harper easily cruised to an overwhelming victory in the riding of Calgary Southwest. He's held the riding since returning to politics in 2002 as leader of the Canadian Alliance. He also held a seat in that part of the city between 1993 and 1997 when he was elected as an M-P with the Reform Party.
