Canada's Food Guide -- a pillar of strength in the country's approach to healthy eating, or fraught with flaws and seriously outdated? We're going to find out!

I followed the food guide for 18 weeks and lost over 40 pounds. By making changes to the food I prepare for my family, to abide by the guide, we noticed marginal changes to taste of the food I was preparing, and did not suffer. The portion sizes I consumed were moderately reduced, but within a very short while this did not bother me.
The one trick which helped me stick to the Food Guide was provided by my dietician. She had stated that if ever I was hungry between meals, that I was welcome to eat as many fresh raw fruits of vegetables as snacks. (This helped, but trust me, I was not gorging on carrots, celery, grapes and apples).
What I will say is that eating this diet will definitely help you eat a healthy balanced diet. I question whether you would be able to sustain your weight on it.

Cup of Oatmeal with "meat alternative" peanut butter. Usually have protein powder in it as well, but⦠instagram.com/p/4RToWBlnfk/
